Hornby reveals huge range of models for TT:120

After many decades of concentrating almost exclusively on the manufacturing of products for the British OO gauge market, Hornby has launched an ambitious multi-phase programme for an entirely new range – in TT:120.

Manufactured at 1:120 scale on 12mm track, this scale and gauge combination mirrors the long established international TT standards adopted by many European and American outline model producers. The application of 1:120 scale to commercial British outline models was spearheaded by Peco earlier this year, with the release of its TT:120 track and lineside structure kits (as reported in the July issue of Railway Modeller for further details).

The extensive plans revealed by Hornby for TT:120 promise a cornucopia of releases, comprising a vast array of steam and diesel locomotives, coaches, wagons, sectional track, resin buildings and structures, and road vehicles. A comprehensive and fully illustrated report detailing Hornby’s plans will be published in the next issue of Railway Modeller, on sale from Thursday 13th October. Copies are obtainable from Peco model railway stockists, WHSmith outlets, and selected supermarkets and newsagents.

Illustrated here is a Gresley A1 Pacific, which is amongst the first models that will be released. Hornby advises that the items illustrated are development samples and are therefore not necessarily reflective of the final production versions.

The programme of releases has been split into four distinct phases, with products from the first phase due to arrive before the end of 2022, whilst items from the subsequent phases are scheduled for delivery during the course of 2023 onwards.

A subscription to printed copies of Railway Modeller entitles readers to a saving on the normal cover price, access to the online digital version (in advance of the normal on sale date) and access to the complete magazine archive, which goes all the way back to 1949!
